Are you looking for Zoos in the USA that offer free admission to everyone? Don’t worry you can still find some Zoos that are completely FREE! There’s also a few zoos that offer free admission days!

Also, keep in mind that a lot of Zoos offer free reciprocal memberships through AZA so if you are a member of one zoo you can receive half-price or free admission to another Zoo! Also, do some research if you decide to become a member to a zoo that offers reciprocal admission because sometimes the perks and prices may be slightly different!

One of the oldest zoos in the country, Lincoln Park Zoo is open 365 days a year and is completely free to the public!

St. Louis Zoo (St. Louis, Missouri)

The St. Louis Zoo is open daily and offers free admission year round! Keep in mind, there are some special attractions and upgrades that do cost extra, but admission to the zoo is free.

Smithsonian National Zoological Park (Washington, D.C)

Part of the Smithsonian Institution, the National Zoo is free to enter and is home to thousands of animals from hundreds of different species, including the famous giant pandas!

Admission to the zoo is free, but passes are required for all visitors, including babies!

Cape May County Park & Zoo offers free year-round admission and offers a variety of animals to see such as Alpacas, Lions, Bears, Giraffes and Zebras!

Salisbury Zoo (Salisbury, Maryland)

This small 12-acre zoo is open daily and offers free admission with free parking! Wide paved paths offer accessibility through the zoo.

Henry Vilas Zoo, (Madison, Wisconsin)

The Henry Vilas Zoo is open daily and offers free admission or everyone! The zoo is home to over 650 animals that feature over 115 species, including 20 endangered animals.

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory (St. Paul, Minnesota)

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is open 365 days a year and is free. They do ask for a voluntary contribution of $4 per adult and $2 per child, but it is optional.

Lee Richardson Zoo (Garden City, Kansas)

This zoo offers free pedestrian entry to all visitors and is free to walk through. However, if you would like to do a drive-thru of the zoo, passes are $10 per vehicle. On Wednesdays of each week, the drive through is free for all guests for Wild Wednesday.

David Traylor Zoo is a small zoo and offers free admission daily.

Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens (Hilo, Hawaii)

The Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens offers free admission daily, but donations are appreciated. There is also a free petting zoo every Saturday from 1:30-2:30pm where you can pet a few different animals.

Navajo Nation Zoo (Window Rock, Arizona)

The Navajo Nation Zoo and Botanical Park is “a Sanctuary for Nature and the Spirit” and give an opportunity to connect to 50 different animal species. Admission is free but donations are always appreciated! The zoo is closed on Sundays.

Zoos in the USA that have Free Admission Days

Bronx Zoo (Bronx, New York)

The Bronx Zoo offers pay-what-you-wish admission every Wednesday. You need to reserve tickets in advance, and you can do so the Monday before starting at 5PM.

Houston Zoo (Houston, Texas)

Admission is free the first Tuesday of each month from September to May after 2 PM.

Also, check your local zoo because sometimes it offers free admission to locals on certain days! For example the San Francisco Zoo, Denver Zoo and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo offer free admission to locals on certain dates for locals!
