There are SO MANY ways to get free or discount admission to some of the most popular museums in attractions in the USA!

There’s no reason to pay full-price on family fun with these great tips to save money on attractions across the US!

Reciprocal Programs

Reciprocal museum programs allow members of one museum to receive free or discounted admission to many other museums across the country.

Reciprocal programs are such a great way to save money on museums and attractions, especially for families! Memberships to a museum is typically around $100-200 for a household annually, but you can find some for less too! Some terms may apply depending on the reciprocal program and museum chosen.

I find that membership, especially when your kids are young, pay for themselves rather quickly and is so fun to get out and discover new things for free!

Here are some of the most popular reciprocal programs in the USA:

Also, check your local state for smaller reciprocal programs in your local area, especially for state parks and recreation programs.

Keep in mind that some of these memberships are even tax deductible because they are non-profits. Memberships also make Christmas gifts for families that have young kids!

Library Passes

Check your local library for museum passes to local attractions and museums. Terms will vary depending on the library and pass but often you can receive half off or free admission to local attractions.

Also, some states you can receive library cards to your biggest city even if you are not a resident. For example, any Massachusetts resident can receive a free library card to the Boston Public Library, and you can request library passes through the BPL. Check to see if your state does something similar so you can have a few more options for library passes as different libraries will have different offers.
